Overview

Water clarification is widely used in the treatment of industrial effluent, municipal wastewater, and municipal drinking water as a pre-treatment step to further purification processes.

“Umiya Enterprise” patented water clarification technologies include Umiya Enterprise-Activeflo, Active Turbo, and Umiya Enterprise-Multiflo.

Water Clarification with Umiya Enterprise-Activeflo

The patented high-rate water clarification system developed by “Umiya Enterprise” is considered the ultimate clarifier. It offers superior clarification performance with a compact footprint while maintaining excellent water quality output.

Key Characteristics

  • 1) Unique settling characteristics
  • 2) High overflow rates
  • 3) Short retention times

These features make it ideal for municipal applications across the country. The process covers numerous applications and can be integrated into many treatment chains to produce high-quality potable water. The system ensures even shorter retention times and boasts an even smaller footprint than conventional clarification systems.

Umiya Enterprise-Multiflow

Multiflow Technology is an advanced clarification technology that incorporates chemical precipitation with sludge thickening, producing a thickened sludge that can be easily dewatered. This technology is highly efficient at removing large quantities of precipitated solids from water. “Umiya Enterprise” offers numerous operational benefits, including:

Key Benefits

  • 1) A small footprint
  • 2) Low sensitivity to operational upsets and stop/start conditions
  • 3) Low concentration of suspended solids in treated water
  • 4) High concentration of suspended solids (calcium carbonate) in the generated sludge
  • 5) Lower capital and operational costs compared to conventional clarifiers

Umiya Enterprise-Multiflow-Pro

This configuration provides solutions for removing high levels of arsenic and heavy metals from water. Umiya Enterprise-Multiflow-Pro combines coagulation, flocculation, and settling stages into a streamlined treatment process.

Coagulation / Flocculation Stage

After oxidation, raw water flows successively through two tanks equipped with propeller-type mixers. This system, developed by “Umiya Enterprise”, optimizes chemical dosing, mixing, and floc formation.

Lamella Settling

The flocculated arsenic and colloidal matter enter the bottom of the settling tank fitted with lamella plates. Water flows upward in the opposite direction of the settling flocs. The flocs deposit along the plates and slide downward under gravity.

Sludge Re-Circulation

This feature optimizes chemical dosing and further improves sludge settling and thickening.

Advantages

  • 1) Well adapted to high concentrations of arsenic
  • 2) Co-precipitation of other heavy metals
  • 3) Removes suspended solids and color
  • 4) Provides softening
  • 5) Produces high thickened sludge concentration
  • 6) Easy to build and operate
  • 7) Robust and proven technology

Umiya Enterprise Lamella Tube Settler

Tube settlers and parallel plates significantly increase the settling capacity of circular or rectangular clarifiers by reducing the vertical distance that floc particles must travel before agglomerating into larger particles.

Tube settlers use multiple tubular channels arranged at a 60° slope and placed side by side, creating a large effective settling area. This design reduces settling depth, improves clarification efficiency, and allows fine floc that escapes the standard clarification zone to be captured effectively. The channel structure also compacts the solids, enabling them to slide down easily.

Advantages

  • 1) High settling rate
  • 2) Effective settling of smaller flocs
  • 3) Tube settler media increases settling area, requiring less than half the area of a conventional clarifier
